After graduation, I attended and graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, SC, Class of 1976. For the next four years, I was a rowing bum, eventually goint to the 1980 trials (yeah, the games Jimmy Carter boycotted) with Ralph Bateman in the boat. (Ralph later dropped about 20 pounds and made the US lightweight 8 ). I then moved to Atlanta and attended law school at night while working for a large firm during the day. I passed the Georgia bar on my first shot prior to completing my course work. I continued rowing until I just burned out at age 60. In 1997, my daughter, Melissa came into my life and not only graduated cum laude (by 1/1000ths of a point) from UGA with a major in International Affairs and a minor in German, but is now in her last semester of law school at Georgia State. (I tried to convince her that there were good jobs in retail, but both her mother and I are lawyers, so she never had a positive role model!) I am now married to a wonderful woman from extreme SW Georgia and 15 months from retirement. My plan is to move to Ireland, coach rowing and die around the age of 95.

Working in film and television in Los Angeles and New York. For the past 14 years I've been teaching screenplay writing at Full Sail University.

What is something in your life that might surprise or interest your classmates?
I like to go camping in the wilderness in my 32' Class A motorhome. I take my two dogs and tow my Jeep Gladiator.
What are your plans for the future?
Retire when I'm 70 and start traveling the world.

I have dedicated 31 years as both a teacher and a school administrator (principal), with expertise in developing, evaluating, and having the K-6 curriculum published across multiple content areas, focusing on STEM.

What is something in your life that might surprise or interest your classmates?
My daughter, Amega, joined the Navy on 9/11, and was deployed 5 times. Then left the Navy to become a police officer.
What are your plans for the future?
Enjoy life, grandchildren, and friends and live between my home in Pompano Beach and Boquete, Panamand Boquete, Panama.

Started exploring instrument building after high school, did that through college. Worked at the North Florida Evaluation and Treatment center when it first opened in G'ville, FL. Tough clientele, psychotics, sex offenders and behavior disorders so burnt out in less than two years. Returned to instrument building (dulcimers, hammered dulcimers, gourd banjos, bowed psalteries) and performing original and American/British Isle folk music with my group "No Commercial Appeal." (Our name proved prophetic!) Formed "Unicorn Strings Instrument Co." with my friends Gene & Jessica Jaeger and traveled the Renaissance fair circuit for 8 years selling bowed psalteries. Sold the company and pursued a spiritual quest for a couple of decades via eastern and western traditions, yoga, meditation, fire walking - you name it. (The poster child of the ADHD of spiritual paths.) Now consider myself a "recovering supernaturalist." Married three times. Suwonneh Wood during "No Commercial Appeal" days. Kayt Kennedy during my spiritual questing period. With Julie Johnson - a kindergarten teacher and educator extraordinaire for the last 32 years. We live on Little Lake Swan in Melrose FL with our dog Maya. I went through a boat designing and building period - mostly Florida Sharpie style sailing skiffs. At age 19, following some Woody Gurthrie dreams I fell off a freight train and broke my back in Ogden Utah. Opened for Don McLean in the 80s. Jammed with Pete Seeger for a few nanoseconds. (One of my "Just shoot me, my life is complete moments.)
What are your plans for the future?
When the pandemic dust settles Julie and I would love to do more traveling.

After divorce, my son and I moved to Ocala, Fl. Worked for 13 years as a school bus driver for Marion County, FL, during that time met my soul mate and we got married. I took early retirement to could take care of my sister (also a grad of 1972) Joyce Bell until she passed in 2012, and my son left this world in 2019. I'm a proud military mom. My son served 16 years in the Army/Army National Guard.

What is something in your life that might surprise or interest your classmates?
After 6 months married to my husband, we started to build our own house. He was a Superintendent of Construction, so he knew how to build anything. I learned a lot working beside him as we built our house and we are still together! After I quit my bus driving job, we drove a semi OTR. I could only handle it for 8 months, but hey, I did it!
What are your plans for the future?
Try to enjoy life at being retired.

First, 9 more years of education (Denison University - BS, UCF - MS, Rice University - PhD). I got married in the middle of all that and we just celebrated 40 years together. I worked for the Orlando Police Department for a couple of years before we left the state and then spent about 10 years as a defense contractor, mostly doing manpower, personnel and training research for the Air Force. Then I spent the next 23 years with Altria, which you may know better as Philip Morris, in various HR, training and compliance positions. All told, we've lived in lived in Nashville IN, Binghamton NY, Dayton OH, Tulsa OK, back to Dayton, Louisville KY, Concord NC and Richmond VA. I retired in 2013 and we decided we wanted something completely different than the east coast. We've been in Durango since 2014 and love it!

What is something in your life that might surprise or interest your classmates?
I've flown in a B-52, observing a low-level bombing exercise. I attended the 3-day Marlboro Racing School at Colorado Springs International Speedway. Apparently I like fast things!

Stay healthy. Keep working on our quest to visit all the National Parks and spend more time in Canada. Read more books. Be content with what I have.

Learned to ride a hover board, snowboarding (bunny hills), snowmobile riding up north. In a blues band percussion and harmonica. Magic tricks, and history off normal charts. Mission trips to Peru, Bangkok, Guatemala…

Bachelor's degree in Music Education Florida State, then immediately moving to California and never teaching! Co-founded a classical music festival (www.musicinthemountains.org) and was Exec Dir for 18 years, then transitioned to Board and became a Certified Financial Planner for past 23 years. Much international travel over the years. House burned down last August, but all is good. Ecstatically married!

I attended college and grad school, have been married nearly 44 years, raised 8 kids (7 sons - 1 daughter), have 16 grandchildren, travel and speak in all 50 states, started churches, run a non-profit and do team building for businesses (Chick-fil-A) and church leadership teams, and develop student leaders. Lots of travel, a little golf and lots of family!

I graduated from UF with a degree in journalism. I worked at a newspaper in Iowa and then a public relations firm in Boca Raton before starting my own pr firm in 1991. I married Andy Slatkow, whom I met through friends, in 1977 and raised a daughter, Stephanie, and a son, Matthew, in Boca Raton and Delray Beach. We are now retired, live in Palm City and CT, and love spending time with our grandchildren, Dylan and Alexandra, in CT. I love traveling, golf and painting. So sorry to miss the reunion and seeing everyone!

Nancy Vickers and I married in 1975. I graduated from medical school (USF in Tampa) in 1979. I was a physician in the USAF for 10 years. We then we moved back home to Winter Park in 1989, where I joined a private medical practice.

In 1976 and 1978, I earned degrees in music (French Horn Performance) from LSU and the University of Cincinnati, as well as a master's in Computer Science from UCF in 1982. I met my wife Susan in music school at LSU, and we have been married for 43 years. We have three beautiful daughters and seven wonderful grandchildren! We live in Maitland and I worked locally as a software developer for about 40 years. I continue to play my French horn, and have been a member of the Bach Festival Orchestra in Winter Park for over 30 years, as well as playing each year in Disney's Candlelight Processional at Epcot. Both Susan and I are now retired.

I’ve spent the last half century being married, until nearly three years ago, to my college sweetheart Cindi Ellsworth, who passed in mid 2019. During that time I/we raised two amazing kids and have 3 super amazing grandkids. My career has included 28 years in Christian ministry as well as art, graphic art, digital marketing, web design and branding for small to medium size businesses. I currently paint realism in oils and work for Apple, Inc.

I married Jim Dannals while we were both at Florida State. Jim's profession as an Episcopal Minister has taken us to six states. Over the years, I have been an early childhood educator teaching Kindergarten through the University level. We have been blessed with three sons and four grandchildren. Life has been and continues to be an adventure, which I love.

At the age of 50, I went back to graduate school (UMASS) to get doctoral degree. It was exciting to be a college student again. I completed all my coursework, and I'm still ABD! Maybe I'll finish it when I get older!

Memories of class of 72 Alumni Reunion Do you remember? Park Ave Elementary Brookshire Elementary Glen Ridge Middle A locomotive and passenger car made a daily trip from Orlando to Winter Park. The train was named Coffee and Tea. As the auto industry increased, the Dinky Railroad profits dropped. The rails were removed in 1964 The Colony movie theatre once offered on Tuesday mornings, bring in 6 R C bottle caps and get a free movie pass. Park Ave Elementary is located on the current site of the SunTrust Plaza. The designer and contractor of the school are unknown. In 1963 Rollins College purchased the large, brick-structured building from the Orange County School District for $350,000. The National Registry of historic places has listed downtown Winter Park on the official list of the nation’s most historic areas worthy of preservation. The soccer crown was awarded to Winter Park High during the 1971 Championship game on a Saturday afternoon. It took four regulation quarters, two overtimes and 8 sudden deaths to do it. Winter Park finally won the Central Florida High School Championship Soccer with a score of one to zero. Winter Park sink hole swallowed up a home, a car dealer and public swimming pool. You could rent a row boat or motor boat to fish at Lake Osceola, named after the great Indian Chief. This is the same lake where the Scenic Boat tour boats are docked Peacocks roamed the streets of Genius Drive. Someone used a an bow and arrow and shot a peacock. Learned how to drive a manual speed Simca. After a few tries jerking and stalling, with a Cadillac behind us, we made it across Lakemont. Went one year to Central Florida ( Fflorida Tech) Played soccrer 3 years University of South Florida Graduated 1976 22 years RJ Reynolds

I have two girls who now have families of their own. They both graduated from UCF with Masters Degrees and are therapists, practicing in Oviedo, FL I retired early in January of 2008 to watch my grandaughter, Madison who was one at that time and welcomed Elena in October of the same year. I also had more time to spend with my mom, who was battling a rare type of blood cancer. My mom passed away in September of 2011. My youngest daughter, Lindsey, married in Jan 2012 . I now have 4 grandchildren Quinn Ivey smith (age 8); and Riker Douglass Smith (age 4). Ray and I, both, stay busy with the two older granddaughter's activities (lacrosse and and basketball), games and practice. We love It though!

Attended UofF BA Philosophy and MA Architecture/Planning, UC Davis MA Agricultural Economic. Worked in Urban Planning 7 years in Sarasota/Bradenton. Married Carol Flint in 1980 and counting. One child, Sam Jones. Moved to California. Worked for 20 years with a flower seed company. Started Green Fuse Botanicals, in 2009. We are flower breeders. Recently purchased lemon orchard where we are building greenhouses and a tissue culture laboratory. Working in an international industry, I have been fortunate to travel over 3.0 million miles collecting plants and working with plant breeders. I like hiking with my wife, travel, theatre, LA Phil and, the Dodgers! All good.

After graduating from Winter Park high I lived at home for years with my mother and grandmother while I went to Rollins. From there I went to grad school in wildlife biology at the University of Michigan. By chance I landed a job at the Cincinnati zoo where I have pretty much spent my entire adult life. It is a good fit, and good work, so I will probably stick with it a few more years before I move on. In 1977 I married my college girlfriend , Kathleen, and we raised three terrific daughters who have been unceasingly kind to their father all the way along. I think that hits the highlights of my last 50 years.

I was a transplant to WP from Boone in 1970-71 school year. I knew very few and felt out of place. That said, the last 50 years have been good. I spent 22.5 years in the USCG and served at units on both coasts and San Juan, PR. I retired as a CWO2 in 1995 and live in Edgewood, WA with my wife of 35 years. I have two sons and one grandson that live in Orlando. We bought our current home in December 1999. Built in 1967, it needed a lot of upgrading. Working together, we renovated 2.5 bathrooms, our kitchen, replaced 16 windows and resided the exterior. I fully retired 4 years ago and volunteer one day / week with Habitat for Humanity.

Freshman year at UF and finished at FTU. In December 1974, I married Bob Glotfelty. He was my date for the WPHS senior prom, though I met him through JA's national conference - he was from Lakeland. We're in the 48th year together. We have a son and a daughter who delighted us as children and are good people and great company as adults. They have good judgment, shown especially in their choice of wonderful partners. And as of 2018 when we became grandparents, they've also proven to be truly wonderful parents, aunt, and uncle. Had we done nothing else in these five decades, we'd still be more than happy! Cooperative Ed jobs during undergrad led to my 36-year career with the federal government. Field: procurement and contracting, mostly major systems acquisitions (planes, ships, missiles, space systems). Moved to the DC area for one of those jobs and stayed, just changing my commute to go to work for the Navy (Crystal City), OMB (in DC), Air Force (then Andrews AFB), and OSD (the Pentagon). Interesting, challenging, often a bit too intense. Fabulous last 6 years at an international desk that provided opportunities to work with counterparts in many countries and travel. Even Finland in February was great! I know how lucky I was to be able to retire and have the freedom to explore and do things I'd never had time for. At a friend's suggestion, I took a Master Gardener course and to my surprise found I loved the learning about the natural world, plants, eco-friendly design, and the people who are into it all. So I became an avid gardener and volunteer. My bigger interest and calling became teaching English to adults. Started an English Conversation Group at our library in 2010, and we still meet each Tuesday evening. A few hundred people have participated for various lengths of time. I've learned from and been awed and humbled by them, and some have become good friends. I've also taught classes and tutored for the Literacy Council. And because of working so closely with immigrants, I volunteered as a Family Mentor for a refugee family. These things are dear to my heart and give me great satisfaction. So it's been a wonderful life. Challenges, yes, but wonderful. I made it to our 10th, 20th, and 40th Reunions, but will miss this one. I wish you all a great time and hope to see you at the next one! Well.... married to my love-Rick Jenkins (1971 Boone Brave) in 1975, lived all over central Florida. Adopted two boys all grown up now. Worked at various ad agencies, my own graphic design studio, printing companies and then went for a real paycheck as a USPS mail carrier until 2020. Cancer survivor and open heart surgery survivor while going through cancer treatments. Hey I fight-not done with this life yet! Two murder mystery ebooks on Amazon-Key to Denial, Scout Out Denial, still working on third but cancer put that on hold. Since retiring in 2020 I'm back to painting again. Now working on FWS Duck Stamp and Michigan Duck Stamp. I've been busy.

Graduated from Furman University with Business degree. Played baseball there. Became a Believer (Christian) at 26. Met and married my wife, Anita, at 32. Have 3 great “kids”, 2 sons and daughter 29 to 33 years old. First granddaughter born last month, next granddaughter coming next month. Have spent last forty years as commercial real estate broker, but over these last 6 years have mostly jumped on Anita’s bandwagon of her 20 year old business (Lifetime Transitions) helping seniors downsize and relocate into senior communities. If you want help feeling younger, find a business or volunteer where your clients’ average ages are well into their 80’s! Mostly sweet, appreciative people. Like helping your parents/grandparents for a living. It’s been a great way to finish off our careers.

Randomly traveled with Duke Marsh for a couple of months after college. Great time. Looking back, that was the break between "school days" and my shaky start into adulthood. Still can't believe I lost the pictures but maybe that's not all bad.

FAMILY: Married Chris Stoddard in 1981 in MI, had daughter Elise in 1983 in Orlando, divorced in 1986; remarried to Ken Lofgren in Sept. 1995. SCHOOL: Got BS in Zoology and Biological Anthropology from Univ. of Michigan Dec. 1975; graduated Central FL School of Massage Therapy Feb. 1998; Graduate Certificate in Educational Technology from UCF in 2007. WORKED as a photographer for Precision Photographics in Ann Arbor, production editor for HBJ in Orlando, senior technical writer for three software companies in central FL, and a technology specialist for Lake Highland Prep. Retired June 2014. INTERESTS: sewing, photography, traveling, swimming at Wekiwa Springs, hiking, bicycling.

Husband Ken and I swim at Wekiwa Springs in the morning almost every day of the year. The water come out of the spring there at 72 degrees, no matter how hot or cold the surrounding air is.

Attended FSU where I met my wife, Heather. We have been married since 1979 and have two terrific children, Laura & Justin, and a Beagle named Copper. Moved to Knoxville, TN in 1984 to manage the national accounts for a furniture manufacturer. Later became part owner in the company. From 1994 - 2015, owned and operated a small business as a sales representative for a binocular manufacturer. Traveled nationally to outdoor sports and recreation trade shows. In 2015, was appointed to serve on the Knox County Commission representing 54,000 county citizens, and have since been re-elected twice. In addition to being a Knox County Commissioner, I currently serve as Finance Chairman for the Knox County Commission and enjoy working on legislative issues as Chairman of the Governmental Affairs Committee for the TN County Commissioners Assoc.

I've have pretty much stayed in the Central Florida area the whole time as initially a Bar Tender the General Contractor, owned a Residential interior Trim company that provided trim work for elite homes in Isleworth & Lake Nona and then for the past 20-years owned and operated a Residential Architectural Design Company. I married the best thing that ever happen to me and married her 40-years ago. Have a daughter that won teacher of the year in Seminole County a couple of years ago. I'm still working and love it.

U of F started as a Zoology major then created a double major in Archaeology/Zoology. Grad School UT Knoxville. Realized I was not an academic so switched major and got my Masters in Science Ed. I spent most of my time at UT caving and climbing etc. Taught HS in DeKalb Co. GA for two years. Got married 1981. Taught Environmental Ed in the Smoky Mts NP for a year and a half then went to work as a seasonal Resource Mgmt Specialist in the GSMNP for 4 years. Got my first permanent position with the NPS in FL at Gulfislands NS. Then transferred to the BLM in S California as a Law Enforcement Ranger. I spent the next 12 years chasing bad guys around the Ca. Deserts and traveling in the SW and Mexico. My daughter was born in 1998. In 2000 I transferred to the US Forest Service as a Law Enforcement Officer in WV. Later I transferred to NC doing Lands and Reality for the USFS. I retired Feb 2020. I'm looking forward to traveling once things calm down on the Covid front. With the FS I was also working in the Wildland Fire program and I continue that in retirement as needed during fire season. Funny where life will take you when you leave yourself open to opportunity.

I received degrees from the University of Florida and Columbia Theological Seminary. From there, I served in pastoral ministry for 42 years with Presbyterian and Lutheran congregations in Louisiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. Most of those years - 40 to be exact - have been shared with my wonderful wife Mary. We have recently retired and moved to Charleston, SC. Our family includes three adult children located in three different regions of the country plus seven grandchildren.

I have been so very fortunate! I have two wonderful grown sons. My older one is an avid cyclist working for a maker of cycling training equipment in Atlanta, and my younger one is a medical resident at Duke. Both have wonderful girlfriends but no weddings or grandchildren yet. In my working life, I was fortunate to have two jobs that I loved, both in philanthropy. I led a foundation in North Carolina for 23 years, and then worked in international philanthropy for another 12 years. The latter position gave me the opportunity to move back to Central Florida, and I am now happily living on the shores of Lake Maitland with great views of sunrises, moonrises, and space shots.

What is something in your life that might surprise or interest your classmates?
Three years ago, with the help of family and friends, I completed a crazy goal I'd set of water skiing on each of the Ancient Greek Seven Seas--the Black, the Red, the Adriatic, the Aegean, the Mediterranean, the Caspian, and the Persian Gulf.
What are your plans for the future?
I love this phase of my life. The things I enjoy most about retirement are being able to say "yes" to whatever needs or opportunities arise, and being able to pursue whatever interests me without having to "get back to work." I am blessed with a diverse group of friends with all kinds of interests, and I look forward to whatever adventures lie ahead.

After 45 yrs in the insurance business, I retired 12/31/21 and loving life at 67 with my golden doodle, Darby. Happy to be on Medicare saving thousands in health insurance premiums and a Silver Sneakers free gym membership. Now spending time riding my Can-Am motorcycle, taking Darby to the DeBary dog park, visits with long time out of town friends and gardening.

I was a teacher in Orange County for 36 years, at the same school. After I retired, I substitute taught for 7 years and officially retired in 2020. During that time I had a daughter and a son. My daughter has blessed us with an adorable granddaughter. They live in Tallahassee so I am traveling there often. I volunteered for Habitat for about 5 years after I retired. I am still in touch with good friends Cindy White, Sharon Plank and Gail Mclean, along with people on the reunion committee. I enjoy gardening, reading and quilting.

I graduated from UCF (FTU at the time) with a degree in business and then my husband and I opened a Harley Davidson motorcycle dealership in partnership with his Dad. After we sold it in the 80s, I started teaching business at Boone High School. I earned a masters degree from UCF and then went to USF for a doctorate. Never in a million years did I think I would be an educator, but fell in love with the profession and career and technical education. I spent the last 12 years as the Executive Director of Lake Technical College in Lake County before retiring in September of 2021. Those 12 years were the best of my professional life. We have two children and two grandchildren. Our son lives in Annapolis with his family and is an attorney. Our daughter lives in Asheville with her significant other and works at Mars Hill University counseling first generation college students. It is hard to believe it has been 50 years since high school!

I have one of the largest collections of Micronesian handicrafts in the country.
What are your plans for the future?
Continue collecting, selling and doing research as long as possible. Hope to place my collection in a museum some day.

UCF grad, teacher for 31 yrs, married a few times, retired to NC in 2014, two children (both WPHS grads), three granddaughters , lots of travel!

I taught at WPHS for 22 years - English, Humanities, and Art History.
What are your plans for the future?
To spend lots of time with my granddaughters and travel every chance I get!

Graduated fro University of Florida, married my high school sweetheart, have a son and a daughter that did well by marrying great people, 5 wonderful grandkids that bring much JOY 🙂

Research scientist, head of horticultural research for Coca Cola, then environmental oversight on the Gulf coast during the oil spill. Still doing consulting. Married to Jim for nearly 40 years! We have one daughter, who is an internal medicine physician doing her residency. I love water sports, especially boating, kayaking, paddle board and jet ski, plus tennis. Love golf but pretty lousy at it - would help if I’d practice my short game! We have 2 crazy golden retrievers and a cat.

Having a wonderful family of 3 sons and a couple of grandkids. My grandkids are actually going to be WPHS graduates. As a matter of fact one of the pictures I downloaded is of me and my WPHS grad granddaughter Chloe. I’m now a stay at home dog mom.
